Viva Las Vegas

Off to Las Vegas Friday morning. I love Vegas. For a short time. I could go to Vegas often but at short periods. Well, if I had money to blow I would go there more often.

Some people just hate Vegas. I love it. Vegas is based upon gluttony, greed, and lust. That equals fun. I live within the law and within some basic moral boundaries, and what makes Vegas fun is that you can lounge right on those boundaries.

Granted, the possibilities and degree of fun offered by Vegas is considerably greater with the money you have. I am pretty much limited to a short run gambling at the machines/tables, an evening or two out with the boys at strip clubs or a little of either and a show. Can't really afford to do it all. But Vegas gets more than it's fair share of people who can do it all and more. The suites at The Palms are the latest example of something for the person who can do it all.

Would I love to be able to drop $40,000 for a suite to entertain my friends. Hellll yea. That would mean I have some much money it's ridiculous. I love to treat my friends and these suites look to be perfect place for a party.

So, I'll be in Vegas to celebrate my Step-Sis' 30th birthday, and I will gamble a little, eat and possibly drink a lot. This will be relatively mild trip but it's nice to have the possibility of being able to do it all.

Mind's Eye

Driving home from my Dad's house on Sunday night I looked at the El Torito restaurant in my perihperal vision. For a split second my mind saw the restaurant on the beach. The lit patio was not on La Palma Avenue but right on a darkened beach.

I thought about where this image came from. Did my brain make a match of this image with something I had seen in person or in a movie years ago? Did it assemble a composite image of somewhere I want to be? It seemed like a great place to be, but I'm not sure what the real reason behind it.

I know this has happened before. I've glanced at something and my mind took the shape and created something different out of it. One of these days I will have to see if I can read an article explaining this.

Ridiculous food prices

My parents met some friends and family for dinner last night. The restaurant, Spaghettini has been around for several years but I never went there. After seeing the menu I doubt I will.

I have no problem paying a little bit more for ambiance and some quality preparation but $27 for a plate of penne and meatballs in a red sauce is a joke. This place isn't Manhattan or even West LA. It's Seal Fucking Beach. For those of you who haven't been there, it's nothing special. Granted it might have more character than the rest of the area around it, but that's really not much of a feat. It's pasta, peaople not a big deal.

The other place I heard mention that I won't be going to is a sushi place some friends were talking about. Apparently, if you go for the most luxurious meal it will run you about $400. The fish better sing and dance for you before they turn it into sushi. There must be one hell of an ambience there, in fact there better be an amazing oriental massage waiting for me after.

I'm tired, more blogging to come when I am better rested and not suffering from writer's block.
